We'll have Halloween on Christmas

This pic was from Halloween. Which seems so recent but was more than a month ago. Where does time go? As you can see I was kitted out as a witch. Here in Australia, Halloween is only just gaining momentum. I am actually quite disappointed I didn't get to experience a real Halloween when I was little - all the chocolate I've missed out on :( This year however Mum and I dressed our windows with pumpkins (plastic) and skeletons (also plastic) and bought loads of Halloween treats. We only had one trick-or-treater come to our door, and though he wasn't in costume he did have the loveliest of manners and we couldn't help but fill is library bag with chocolate and 'Oozing Eyeballs'.

Speaking of time passing by, please excuse the long absent of late. I've had exams to deal with throughout November plus my birthday. I had TWO exams on my actually birthday as well. Even worse one of these exams were Maths. I hate Math. Isn't that a horrible way to spend your 23rd birthday?

Now exams are all over though, and guess what? I passed! This means I will be officially graduating in March. I am so relieved/proud/excited! Since finishing university I haven't been up to too much. Just working three to four days a week. I am trying to make the most of what will be my last summer holidays EVER.

Today I applied for a real world Marketing junior position. My first application since completing my degree, which is simultaneously exciting and terrifying. Hopefully I get a response.

Going to hunt down some of those left over eyeballs. Yum

Open days and long socks

This past weekend was spent tagging along with my brother to the university open days in our city.

Yesterday we went to Flinders University. To me it is a very American college type campus, at least aesthetically.

The career my bro wants to pursue (high school PE teacher) is offered here in the best format.

Today we went to UniSA.

As a UniSA student myself (soon to be graduate, thank you) I am biased.

However this uni does not offer the programme that best suits my brother.

So it looks like he will be a Flinders kid. Traitor. Just kidding. Kind of.

Some of today's talks mention work placements and work experience.

I have none of either.

Which could be a major problem when looking for employment in four months time.

Someone need to pull their socks up then.

Well, I would if I owned anything other than anklet socks. Seriously, anything longer irritates me.

Ignoring my sock situation and back to the proverbial.

Work experience is something that I've always meant to get around to, but another assignment crept up on me and then another. And here we are. With no work experience or long socks.

This week I will start attacking, I mean contacting various organisations about work experience.

Hopefully I can con someone into having me.

People always leave, but sometimes they come back

Wow, university has been full-on! I've been super busy, but in a good way.

Lately my weekends have consisted of homework and household chores. Riveting read for the blogoshpere I'm sure.

For instance, my plans for today (Sunday): killing some assignments while starting a One Tree Hill marathon.

One Tree Hill is by far one of my favourite television shows. though I must admit, I haven't seen any of season five onwards. I just wasn't into the post-Tree Hill High days. However, news that one of my favourite characters (Chris Keller) will be returning for the final season has lead me to decide to catch up.

Also, planning to see Jane Eyre on Tuesday night with Christina. That book was my absolute favourite as a 12 year old. Yet for some reason I do not have my own copy (?!). Will need to rectify that soon. Christina however has not read it, so she's trusting my advice - it is amazing. Hopefully the film will live up to my adoration for the novel (although with Michael Fassbender as Mr Rochester, how can it not?).

So today we've learned:

• a lot about some of my favourite things
• that i have a slight obsession with parentheses

Change of plans

These past few weeks I've been deliberating which subjects to choose this coming semester (the semester now starts in four days..). My choice lies between Tourism & Hospitality Marketing and Desktop Publishing for Business. Initially the final choice was dependant on how I fared in my Semester 1 results (passes all round. Woo.), but now I'm just confused and indecisive.

I've made a decision.

Desktop Publishing for Business it is.

Unfortunately, this means that my timetable will be a little more jumbled and my work availability will change. However I am actually looking forward to this class now. I really think I can put what I learn in this course, into practice in future.
